Ok... I don't sell AVON FT anymore (I just don't have time),
however I still love to market products,
so I am leaving this up for all my Avon Friends and everyone else who

Currently I am selling Mobile Homes!
I love it! The cool thing is it's like selling Real Estate but because there is no land involved
you don't need a license. To be honest, I have taken the RE class twice in 15 years and missed the test by 2 pts! I hate math, I am just not good at it!

I love watching HGTV, I love helping people find their perfect home. I love marketing each and every listing! Actually alot of the ideas I have used selling Avon I am now using to sell homes!
Like always waring a name tag, contest boxes, having a booth at a flea market to get leads,
Writing newsletters, and sending out postcards...
And instead of parties I now have "Open Houses" !
The only problem is it's commission only, so start up is rough.
But I have determination, and I will persevere until I succeed!

So weather you sell Avon, Homes, pots and pans, baskets, hot tubs, swimming pools,
or your offering a class at a nearby gym, you need to market your idea.

This is the deal...
As I always try to be honest with you. This is where I'm at...

After weeks and weeks of job hunting for any part time job.
I am finally working 3 PT jobs and I realized that I just don't have the time or money to put into a FULL Time Avon business RIGHT NOW. So, Today I decided to scale down.

However I didn't want to quit, because it is growing and I have people who depend on me both customers and downline. And I really love selling Avon, I just need to regroup while I get my life and finances in order. That's the nice thing about having your own Avon business, it is YOUR business, you get out of it what you put into it. And if you need a break, it's ok.
(but just make sure you have at least one order pr campaign to stay active.)

And I do have that BIG Fund-Raiser in October!

So here is my solution.
I will no longer be buying 100 books at a time, because I just don't have the money or the time/gas to hand them out. I will get 10 books for my regulars to share.
And I will explain that they can always order online 24/7
This will make my life much easier too as it can be directly shipped.

Also, I will no longer be buying samples,
this I have found costs me my entire weekend in tips to cover. Mostly because I bought too much of everything and wanting to give it away to everyone to try. Before it wasn't so bad but since tips have gone down due to the lack of customers, something has to give.

*However I will still be buying myself 1 (one) small bubble bath a month -
this is my one luxury I indulge in 3x a week.
It helps me relax, as it is very hard for me to relax lately... (stress)

I know the economy will get better eventually
and so I don't want to give up, I just need to scale down.

So if you can relate to my story
and you're in the same situation,
here is the thing...

Don't quit.. Re think,
restructure and hold on.

I believe it will get better soon.

Why not set up a booth at
The Flea Market /Your Local Farmers Market.

A booth is usually about $15-$20
No you don't need snacks. (except for yourself) :)
You can just bring a few samples and some books.
Bring a chair or two so they can sit down... (don't forget one for yourself)
Some samples to try....

You could set up cute Avon Party bags for everyone who puts in an order for $20 or more!

You can hand out the books hopefully to future customers and if you have some samples.

You could offer a book/samples to everyone who registers.

Why not do a raffle with a basket full of Avon! (bubble bath, nail polish, lotion etc.)

Just so you can get addresses/names of those who are interested!

Bring kits to sign people up to sell Avon too!

Yes orders take orders while you are there!

And if you're really ambitious, go to the dollar store and buy 10 tote bags, decorate w/puff paint your Avon contact information, some bows, silk flowers etc? whatever grabs attention. You could either sell them for $1 or $2 or give them out to people who have their hands full. Just to help them. (don't forget to include an Avon Book in the bag!) he he ...

Give your self GOALS!

Tell yourself, I will sign up 3 people today and give out 50 books and get 5 new orders!

Here it is. :)

How to do an Avon Fundraiser

Find a place (like a school or church) or organization, that needs to raise money. and has a group of people who are willing to help. This is key! This is how you reach new people.
Visit with the person in charge. Get their name/phone and address for your records! Bring a catalog an order book, a collection envelope, and a Avon clear bag to put it in. This is what you'll explain goes out to everyone helping with the fundraiser. One bag per person. (say 65 people helping, now imagine if everyone brings in about $25 in orders 65x25=$1,625 in orders!)
Your total sales will work to help you establish your goal to presidents club.
You will get to keep all the names and addresses of your new client base!
You MUST explain that every order form must be complete in order to process. Explain that receiving an order that reads "mom" soap. will NOT be processed, because it will become confusing when there are 15 mom orders and no way to figure out which mom it goes to. (this will also help you get complete info on your new customers)
Now you should also bring for your presentation the earnings chart. This will show them how they can reach their fund raising goal. It would be helpful if you also had a letter explaining the due dates and any other instructions for this to be a smooth transaction.
When the money is collected explain that you perfur if someone from their organization be there as the orders are opened and monies are counted. (so no one is accused of stealing) What I mean is, you open envelope 1. and it has order form for soap, shampoo, dress, etc did they include the right money amount for that order? Yes great! You can go on to the next envelope...
Now it is your business however I do sudgest that you collect the money upon receiving the order, this way you're not giving out $1500 worth of product and praying that everyone brings back their money. If you do it this way you'll be sorry and so will the ones doing the fundraiser.
Ok, you have the right dollar amount and all the orders, simply thank them and go home to add the orders one at a time to yourAvon.com This is the perfect time to add each new customer to your client base! (this IS why you did the fundraiser!) Don't forget to order AVON BAGS and An Avon book for each order (samples if you wish)!!!
The order arrives... Take an invantory and print out the invoices for all the orders, gather your bags and products. Visit your organization, and have someone RESPONSIABLE from there help you put the orders together. Add an invoice to each order. Put your card, and a New Avon Book (coupon or sample if you wish) in each bag. You can add a bow and a spritz of perfume if you wish.
It would be nice if there was a prize for the top three who sold the most! Bubblebath? or an ice cream party for the calss that raised the most! (cost? $30?)
Work out by using your invoice how much percentage your fundraiser raised and present them their money! You pay your Avon Bill with the rest...
Depending on you and how much they are getting percentage wise. 30-40-50% You may or may not have a profit, it all depends on how much of the percentage you are giving them. (But Remember: you are doing this to get a new client base! if thoes same 65 people had orders for 3 people each you now have 65x3=195 new potential customers who are using your Avon Product! Who have your books, who have your card, who have a coupon for their next order!) Now your thinking!!! Caching$$
You could Make a Big "to do" about how much money they raised! Make up posters to announce how much they raised! You could have an Ice cream party for the winning group that raised the most money. You could do a raffle of all the people who were out there getting the orders and announce the winners on the posters! they could win Bubble bath or a necklace or something. (they could pick from your prize stash) during the ice cream party! Make it an event they'll always remember, one that they may want to do again next year! Make them love having you to do fund-raisers with!

Sorry I haven't been around, I needed inspiration too.

To everyone who is getting out there today and knocking on doors Great Job .

I know it takes alot of courage to do this.
I did it last week in 90' heat and it sucked. I was SOAKED w/sweat by the time I was done and no orders to show for it. An only 3 people that were happy to see an Avon book. Talk about a needle in a haystack!
It seems at least here that ALOT of people are afraid to answer the door or just arn't home.
I know there has GOT to be an easier way!

Today I was in the parking lot at McDonald's (shh don't tell on me) and there was a storage place behind them with a black iron fence that was just up against the back of the McDonald's. Therefore everyone who entered the drive through line and everyone who exited the restaurant would pass this gate. WELL someone was SMART and put their Lawn service banner on the fence, probably giving the storage company a cut.
BUT what a GREAT idea! Pure BRILLIANCE!!!!

I will be looking for my own prime location to put a banner!
Similar to the one I got at VistaPrint banner (above) that I got for free minus shipping (about $10). I will have one saying Have you seen Avon Lately? Call me for a FREE catalog! (my number)

Good news/ Kinda,
I got another order from someone who found my campaign book (13) and she wanted spectra color lipstick.. Only Avon no longer is making this, so I got her address and is mailing her a new catalog and samples.

YES I signed up another Avon Rep Saturday, she was so excited! And I am excited for her!
She is in college so she has alot of people to show her catalogs to, she should do really well.

Daycares and door knocking today

Well I went to two daycares today who gladly accepted 5 books each. Neither wanted to do a fundraiser at this time. That's ok, I planted the seed in their brain for later. Than I walked in 90' heat and door knocked about 40 homes. I had a few good leads, that greeted me warmly, the rest was fizzle... No orders yet from this, we'll see.

I did set up an appointment to sign up someone. :) 9am Friday !

Hi everyone!
Today was a great day! I knocked on doors until my catalogs ran out.
Unfortunately there was no one home (except two) but that's ok. I was able to meet two potential customers and the rest will Have a NEW AVON catalog to welcome them home!

I went to my Avon Training center today and had the BEST meeting with my upline!
They gave me lots of TIPS to improve on a few things I was doing and FRESH Ideas for the future.
I am so lucky to have them and YOU to bounce my ideas off of. I really Love the Opportunity to share AVON with others and I can't wait until tomorrow to visit and share with more people tomorrow. I wish it was morning already!
But until than I'll get my New catalogs I got got ready for tomorrow. :)

Than I'm going to take a bubble bath tonight with AVON'S Tropical Delight!
(It smells like a day at the beach!) sigh, I can feel the relaxation already!

Today is another day and I plan on hitting my neighborhoods very early this morning before it gets too Hot! I live in Florida and by noon it's 90' outside with no wind, and by 4 pm it rains.

My goal today is to knock (yes ladies) KNOCK on 40 doors and introduce myself as their Avon Lady!
I will have a basket with Avon books and samples and let's not forget order forms!
My sales goal today is $100.

Visiting 3 child daycares today w/ Avon Books.
(offering employee of the month gift in exchange
for them offering my Avon books to employees and parents.)

I also have a Avon meeting today at 4pm. with my upline and her upline, I requested it. I just want to know that I am on track and learn anything and everything I can. I'll let you know how it goes, I am so excited and can't wait!

Pack it up

1. put a catalog
2. make a book mark with you contact info and a coupon - a free (? - lotion) with any $15 order.
(or $1 off any jewelry order with this coupon)
on the other side-(reads) order now and pay on delivery.
(up to any $25 order)

3. don't forget to put your label on your catalog
4. INCLUDE an order form with your contact info!
(fill out the catalog number on the form! and highlight it)
so they can read it to you when their ordering.
5. You can include a perfume sample but why not save that for your PAYING customers.

6. Add business card/magnet if you have one.

7. Clear bag it in the clear AVON Bags

Now take about 60-100 of your catalogs and drive to your new route, at night is fine and
toss them to their driveways.

Keep track of your calls/sales...
You will probably have to do this 3-4 campaigns at the same addresses to give them the feeling of trust / security that you'll still be there.
Feel free to followup with a door to door visit if you like.

I took the new Driven Black cologne (a bottle of it - not the samples) and walked around the office letting guys spritz themselves. Smelled like a disco when they got done but I sold 12 bottles of the stuff! Actually, it smells different on me so I wear it from time to time. My husband just loves it.

I'm thinking of doing this on the next new bottle of women's cologne. Not too many liked the Christian Lacroix for some reason, although personally, I like it. :)

I know it's a long road to riches with AVON but there are too many women out there who are bringing in those $8,000/per campaign commission checks (Diane Smith is one in the Peachtree district - I actually saw her checks for 4 campaigns. Amazing)

Just wanted to update everyone sine my last posting. By going by my goals and small but working business plan, I have almost $8,000 in sales and am now Unit leader with 6 members in my downline, with one signing up tomorrow night. Thanks to my last posting, I have recruited a wonderful woman that has almost surpassed me in just a few short months. So if I am not a good enough example of starting a successful business, she is. She has about $4000 in sales and has recruited two into her downline. I have enjoyed my business and if anyone would like to know more, please contact me anytime. No it is not a get rich quick, but like with most other successful and long term businesses. It takes time and effort. But most of all, you have to enjoy and like what you do.

I believe that hard work pays off in the long run. I have been an AVON rep only for about 3 months. My goal is to run my own business and be successful at it. I set up a business plan before I ever recruited. I budget my spending at the beginning of each campaign. Once I have placed into my cart all my selling supplies and samples, then I set myself a sell goal so that I never have to pay for anything out of another income. I planned in advance to give all my commission up to start my business. I estimated to do this for at a minimum of four months and a maximum of 6 months. Buying a pack of Glazewear Samples is $1.50 per pack. When you sale a Glazewear lipstick (1) at 50% earning then you have paid for your samples. I have a fishing tackle box that I keep samples in so that my customer can browse and pick out what he or she likes rather than drop into an order. I have recruited 4 individuals in two weeks. They were provided with 10 current brochures and 10 future brochures. I also gave them a tip sheet and contact information. At least 5 ways of reaching me. They were each giving about $20 in samples to start off with. I do whatever I can to help them to be successful. Their success is my success. I have not sold less than $500 in any campaign I have been in. I have a total of 93 customers, which about half order every campaign. In my first four campaigns at 50% commission I bought all my sells supplies I would need for an estimated six months. Now all I buy is my books, samples, and one demo per campaign. I budget everything. I now pay my phone bill, my internet service, all the gas for my car, my cell phone. I still walk out with over $100.00 to the good in pocket each campaign. So it depends on what you want out of your business and how much heart you put into succeeding. With one more recruit I become Unit Leader. Avon does offer many opportunities to be successful. Even though with AVON ADVANTAGE, you get discounts with places like Staples and Dell. You can also purchase Life insurance and health insurance. A person signs up for AVON and boom! instant cash! Instant customers! Instant fame and fortune! And very little effort or work to get there! Wow! Fantasy come to life!

Ok, now the reality check. Millionaires will tell you there is no fast-easy to making the kind of money you want to make in any direct-sales industry - AVON, MK, HIG, etc.

If you go in with blinders on, you'll get your feelings hurt pretty quick because you don't have a check coming in from all that "residual money" that the recruiter told you about initially.

Guess they didn't tell you that you have to spend money to make money. Guess they didn't explain that if you don't go to the sales meetings, you don't get a fresh perspective of your own goals. Guess they didn't tell you that your direct sales business was actually a BUSINESS that you would have to manage (keeping on target with your goals) or bring innovative ideas to the table to be considered a useful part of the team.

Guess it's really easy to look at all those direct sales people and critique them without walking a mile in their shoes or even being a part of their team. Guess you thought you'd go through years and years of being a rep and doing the same things over and over again and hoping you'll get somewhere.

If you're in the business, what are you doing to help your team? What are you doing to help your business? If you're in the business, have you made specific goals and are working towards them? Are you sharing them with your team?

Is your family looking at you and saying, "oh, she/he has a nice "hobby" selling this stuff but you don't really make REAL $$ doing it." Do they pat you on the head a lot and toss you a cookie and wait for you to just go away? Do your customers do this to you?

Maybe there's something to not making a load of $ with direct sales. But, for me, that's not the case. I am making money with AVON and I'm keeping track of everything I make and what I'm spending my profits on. I don't buy demos. Why should I? I have an upline or a member of the team that has that demo product so I just borrow theirs in exchange for me helping them toss books one day or going to a craft fair and helping them work their booth. Barter and trade. The less inventory you keep, the less you have to keep up with.

As for not making to full 50% on every item you sell, well, all I have to say is you're only concentrating on items that give you the guaranteed 20% return from AVON. You don't push the 50% items, only the 20% because the 20% is newer or it's a short-term/seasonal item or it's easier to sell because it's cheaper. But consider this..... you have to work MUCH harder to get to the 50% level if you're only selling at the 20% level. You're spinning your wheels because you don't know your product, you don't know your company benefits and you don't know how to sell. I'm no expert but thanks to my team and the AVON training, I'm quickly getting to that expert level. Why? Because I WANT to be there. I don't want to do the same things over and over and over again. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired with my life and my bank account.

If that means I have to step up my attitude, so be it. I'll break the mold that everyone sees in me and do something different. I'll succeed.

But thoughts like that come with thinking you're a leader and not a follower (something different for me, for sure). Thoughts like that come with a promise to yourself that you're not giving up or not going to do things the way you've always done them. (another concept that's alien to me but I'm working to make it my way of life)

And you can't tell me MK, HIG and all the rest are any different. Been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt and promptly sold it.

Day 32.. Saturday Delivered an order today

Today I delivered an order at a strangers home,
I had spoken to them a few times first, taking the order and when it came in and setting an appointment to deliver it. Yes, I was nervous especially because they spoke Spanish and only one person at their home spoke English. So There I was, I packed up their order, a few different catalogs (clearance, Campaign 18, Mark etc.) samples for them to keep, and lastly a basket. No this is no ordinary basket it kind of looks like a Tan Easter basket and I filled it with Rare Pearl, Far and Away, Skin so soft lotion, 24 hour roll on, coconut and lemongrass shower gel. I arrived at the door and she was so nice she greeted me from her door, which was open, because their air conditioner was broken. It was 90' outside and hotter inside.
As we walked over to the dining room table I noticed how clean their home was and I told her so. She had a beautiful family with three lil boys which appeared to be about one and two years of age and a baby (that was sleeping). Than she introduced me to her mom who appeared to be sweating as she laid across the chair under a ceiling fan. Her mom was so young looking (could have passed for her sister -really) and very pretty. Her mom's boyfriend was also there getting ready for work.

We sat at the dining table going over the products, as they browsed through the catalog. The boyfriend (I don't know his name, sorry) said his sister in-law sells Avon In Puerto Rico and has been for 18 years and makes about $3,000 a month!
Wow that's Awesome and INSPIRES ME! (I hope you too)
He was saying that she had given him some Cologne. We all smelled it, It was nice. Than they found it in the catalog and they ordered some more! the cool thing was it was on special buy one at regular price $17.50 and one for $2.99. So they bought two different ones! Than as we were going thou the samples in my basket they actually bought the 24 hour roll on deodorant right out of my basket! :) ahhh, I didn't think that would happen. They were just samples. :)

the lil boys were being lil boys, because company was there. they were jumping on the dining room table where we were sitting. (but they were cute about it). They even sampled the perfume, so they could smell like mommy. :) Mom expressed to me that she loves perfume, but as we talked I listened to how she really loves the shape and colors of the bottles!

I told her I would order some Spanish catalogs next time so everyone can read them. Than I told her I would drop off some men's cologne samples I had at the house that she wanted to smell.

As I was leaving I realized this visit was so nice I LOVED it!
Selling Avon is for me! This is what I want to do! and I left with a $20 order!
I can't wait to do this again!

Day 30... Employee of the month IDEA!

I had this idea today when I was thinking about one of my customers being ill. I was thinking how nice it would be if I left a GET WELL card and some bubble bath to help them feel better.

Than I thought....
How about giving a AVON Gift basket for the Employee of the month! In exchange for passing out your catalogs 2x a month! I will approach 3 daycare's tomorrow to see if they would like to do this for their employees! I could make up a basket with bubble bath, nail polish, buff puff, facial mask etc. and they could leave out my catalogs in a basket for all their parents and employees! In exchange for a gift basket once a month to reward their employees!
What a great way for them to try out products!

My goal today,
is to take all my older catalogs with a label/coupon and put them on car windshields
at the flea market. I have about 50!
Whenever I visit the Avon Training Center they have a box by the door of FREE leftover outdated catalogs, I try to take about 20. and I re label them and use them on cars.
I do bag them just in case it rains the ink won't stick to the cars.
Taking my boys swimming at my sister's today. The flea-market is on the way...

I created a new coupon and I also have my last order to deliver for the week today.

UPDATE: Flea-market is CLOSED on Friday!

So I took all my catalogs and me and my two boys helped me put them on cars
in parking lots. They were in plastic bags just in case we have afternoon rain.

Day 22... I'm Back

Hi everyone, I'm back from my visit with my sister in Tampa.

Came home and Completed welcoming Madison to our Avon Family!
YES Madison is officially with Avon! I will be helping her with a fundraiser for her mom and dad cause - helping families overseas with toothpaste, soap, and other necessities.

I also had a call from someone else who saw my catalog and wants to sell Avon!
I'll be meeting up with her tomorrow night!

I have a cold so I won't be writing much tonight...

Also I wanted to finish my review on Avon's Shampoo/Conditioner. And I would have to say it is good for getting the oils out of your hair and it dries much Faster with the hair drier, the bad part, my hair felt like straw after getting out of the shower, but was ok after I dried it.
I don't think I'd use it again unless I was trying to strip my hair.

Shampoo and conditioner.

Well I was comparing it to my current shampoo/conditioner Pantine.
I will be using it over the next three days and give you an update.

However I first noticed it took 1/2 the amount of time to dry it.
and it styled well.

Hi everyone, today I got a $30 order from someone who saw my catalog in a beauty shop waiting room. Wo Hoo!

My Avon order came in today and as I reviewed my invoice the last page said to date I have sold $600 WoW I had no idea! that's Awesome! Not bad for just starting...

Also in the order was a RED SOX Hoodie Towel (for children)
and I have to say it's REALLY NICE! LOVE IT!!! Worth every dollar!

There will always be someone who disagrees with what you do, but as long as you feel it is right you should pursue and just keep on going.

I feel Good about doing this blog, I know it will help people now and later.
My goal is to write what I learn so I may be able to help others make better decisions. This should also help my down line feel more confident and for anyone who reads this to be motivated. Day 14.... Mailed a few Avon Catalogs

Today I mailed out a few Avon catalogs with samples, boy that was expensive about 2.50 each!
Yikes! I mailed 4 out!

I was out at Universal Studios today with my boys and I got an Avon Order!

Updated the colors of this blog today because I noticed alot of other Avon blogs were using the same background, and this is easier on the eyes.

I also changer my browser name because someone threatened that I'm not to use the Avon name in my browser. I'm not upset, it doesn't bother me. However I have noticed about 100 other websites/blogs that do just that too, and I'd never say anything...
So it's changed, and that's why....

The school I wanted to help with their roof Fundraiser said Yes !
For October 1st!
Yaaaahhhh!

Now that I know how to do this, I want to do one a month!

I figure if I can do 5 This year 2009 before December 30,
I will be able to Grow my customer base!
My customer base is about 50 now, but how cool would 500 be!

Now I just have to find 4 other schools/companies or churches that need money....

Day 12... Sunday new Order

My campaign ends tomorrow at Noon, and I am trying to close up loose ends (orders).

I am picking up a check and exchanging it for a $35 Avon Purse tomorrow am,
since I hadn't been able to get in touch with her until tonight.
Then I should have everything paid and delivered and I can make my Avon Payment and next campaign order.
I have several orders to send in but I know I can't order until my last campaign is paid first.

1. Visiting the Orlando Avon Training Center to get the paperwork for a fund raiser for the
school roof. Done :)

2. While I'm at the training Center I will pick up some catalogs (you can get old ones for free and
those are great to leave behind at waiting rooms.) Just put a contact me sticker.

Today I asked about doing a School Fundraiser.
There is a School down the street from me that needs a new roof.
I would love to help. I will be getting my information together 1st than contacting them.
Let me know if you have any ideas, because they need $12,000...

~UPDATE~

What I found out so far...

They will earn 40% commission on all Avon products and 20* on the starred items.
They can roll out a fundraiser using anyone of the current campaign brochures.
I have been offered The supplies free from my up line! :) Thank You!

Now, even though they keep the profits, that's ok, because I will have lots of names/addresses of New Customers who Love Avon, for me to share with in the future.
Can you imagine having a ready list of future customers! I'd love it, wouldn't you?

My goal today is to have 5 people say they will attend my party Friday.
I know not everyone will attend, so I will keep going until I feel that at least 10 will show.

Write out 25 invites,

Visit a grocery & party supply store, strike up a conversation

and invite them to my Avon Party with an invitation and a catalog.

Hand out 8 invites to the girls at work.

Go to lunch and hand out an invite/catalog.
Go to the post office to mail out an Avon Order (leave a catalog/invite behind)

Day 5 ..... I got a new order!

I started carrying my AVON receipt book in my waitress apron at work,
and it was a good thing because I got an order for two perfumes today!

I spent 2 hours looking for the invitations I got for my Avon party, AGAIN and I can't find them anywhere... I may have to buy more, which would be awful because I had 50!
Sigh, I guess that's ok because it won't be my last AVON party
and I could use them on my NEXT Avon Party...

I came up with a really cute Countdown to use at my party.
(still working on this.)

10 Make Up Do's & Dont's

Yesterday I figured out how to print invoices from my Avon Website
(thanks to Marilyn a fellow Avon Rep) to attach to my deliveries, I must say they looked very professional.

my business card and attached a pink bow to the white bag.
Than I spritzed the bag with Far and Away perfume.

Day 3 Getting the word out

It's blog day 3 , but probably one month or so into selling Avon. I've decided to give it my all and see what becomes of it.
I am curious to see where I will be a year from now in this company.
Will I hit my goal?
We'll see...

I decided that because I was going to pass out catalogs today,
I would dress nice, add makeup the right way (concealer, foundation, powder, blush, liner, eyeshadow, mascara etc.) and do my hair and jewelry. No sloppy look for me today. After all would I want to buy makeup from someone who looks like they just rolled out of bed. Aaah No.

I was surprised it worked I looked nice, I hadn't done this in so long I forgot how I could look.
Too bad my husband is out, I was wishing he could see me.
I did my makeup the way Avon had showed me and I actually looked 5-10 years younger.
Now if I can just tighten my face, right here... Maybe I'll check into the Avon face firming cream.

Today I distributed 48 catalogs, and about 10 opportunity fliers.
I went to :
Doctors offices (w/ waiting rooms)
hair salons (w/ waiting rooms)
nail salons (w/waiting rooms)
Laundry mats (w/waiting rooms)
Daycare s
Assisted Living Facilities
55+ mobile home parks (office/laundry/clubhouse)
5 - apartments (mail areas / laundry rooms / leasing agents)
small stores (that were slow/ for the employees to look at - they looked bored)
I slid a few catalogs under doors of offices
Tire/auto repair waiting rooms

I almost always handed them to someone,
except when I would put a few magazines on a waiting room table.

All of them had my business card and sticker with my contact information.
(just in case they loose my card) I'm hoping they keep my contact information.

My order came today, I looked at my new catalog, and browsed thru the shipment.
I found that when 5:oo pm hit I was really tired. Last night I was up until 2am. On the computer,
I'm not sure how my husband puts up with it/me.
I'm a workaholic.
Last night I was trying to figure out how to write and publish an ebook.
Not about this but something totally different...
I know crazy hmmm.

Anyhow, I haven't had any orders today/tonight.
I'm disappointed but I know that people keep their catalog around for a long time, sometimes weeks or months, so at least they have my name and website.
I wrote down everywhere I visited so I will be sure to visit them again.

I'm super tired, and am going to bed.

Today I listed my upcoming AVON party on Craig's List and used various other classifieds online to advertise the Avon Business Opportunity.

I than gave out 7 of my 10 invitations included with the newest catalog, during my errands today.
1-bank
1-Mobil, when I got gas
1-a shop I stopped at
1-grocery store
3- the girls at work

Tonight I prepared my self for tomorrow.
While I watched TV with my family, I filled a large basket with catalogs (about 30) all marked out with post-it's on the pages I wanted them to notice. I included samples on the pages they corresponded with and inserted invitations to my party. I also have about 20 (Hello Tomorrow Avon fliers, (Dawn is my Favorite) they are really nice and Avon has them for you to order online and they are very inexpensive).

My goal :) I won't come home until I have given them all out.
After many successful years in sales I know- It's a numbers game,
the more you contact the better your chances for sales now and later.
I know someone will probably keep my catalog for months lying around. Either in the car, at the office, or at home, and that's ok, as long as they know they can contact me anytime to order their favorite Avon items. Name recognition of me and AVON...
You should visit the same location 5 times to show you are reliable and within that time they should order, but don't forget to follow up.

Try to REMEMBER (if you can) Grab a business card on the 1st or second visit if you can, so you can call or email them a reminder that your order is going in the next day and you don't want them to miss the deadline. Make friends - bring them sample gifts!

I plan on visiting apartments, doctors offices (w/waiting rooms), office complexes and various trade schools/local collages.
I feel this is the best time because everyone is looking for extra work right now and AVON is such a GREAT opportunity. With Avon You never have to worry about getting fired again!
I love that With Avon you can Be your own boss!

Tomorrow I will also visit my local AVON training center to pick-up a roll-on for my favorite guy at Kinko's. The store keeps alot on hand just in case you need something fast. I won't get credit for it in my catalog sales but that's ok. It will be my gift to him, he has always been so nice to me and I am sure he will order from me in the future.

I also noticed that my business card and this blog did not say Independent Sales Rep. so I decided to order new business cards and fix my blog.
Good thing they were free and easily fixable...

Note to everyone: I goofed, make sure your marketing material says this because this is in Avon's rules. I am still learning the ropes but hopefully we are ok now.

Day 2

Last Night I took my son to workout at the gym with his cousin. So I decided to make good use of my time. While I waited I had my canvas bag full or AVON opportunity fliers and AVON Catalogs.

I updated them with some business cards and was on my way. You don't need to put business cards on them but I just ordered them from VistaPrint.com and they are awesome. Plus they were FREE I just paid for the shipping about $12. for 250 (see card above)

So I went to the parking-lot of the gym and put just the fliers on the windshield of the cars. When I came across a woman waiting patiently in her car for someone.
With AVON Catalog in hand I asked her if she would like one.
To my surprise she said "OH I LOVE AVON, they've changed so much you know." So I gave her a catalog. I was just so shocked I couldn't do any more. I was happy to give her a catalog, but shocked to have such a warm reaction.

Well one parking lot down, and on to the one across the street at WinnDixie. Again I began using my AVON fliers I had photocopied at Kinko's.
(Funny Story- when I was making copies, my favorite kinko's guy was there and he saw I sold AVON and ordered some deodorant! He said he loves AVON too!

The ones with The mom having a flexible schedule to be home when her kids com home from school. It's called the "Dawn" flier. I love this one because I feel it relates one mom to another. This is the reason I always wanted to work from home, to be there for my kids and still have a income coming in.

One two three cars, the windshield was still wet from the rain we had earlier, I wasn't sure if this had been a waste of time but here it goes. When I cam to another car with a woman waiting patiently in her car. She had watched me put out fliers and I could tell she was curious.
So I put a flier in a catalog and asked her if she would like one. I love AVON she said, and thanked me. I couldn't believe it two for two...
I couldn't believe it myself people really do love AVON, or at least the catalogs, they are fun! Well before I had left the parking lot and before I knew it
I had given out 5 AVON catalogs to women who were happy to take them.
I felt really good, like I had accomplished alot.
With 60 fliers out and 6 catalogs all together, I had accomplished my goal for the day, and it only took about 15 min.

I couldn't wait to get home and see if I had any orders on my AVON website!
YES!!! There was one! I looked and it was from my sister Carol! Thank you I thought, it was nice that I felt she would come to me to order the things she could have picked up down the street. She has been very supportive. :) She's the best!

Today I plan on giving out 10 invitations to my 1st AVON party.
The party is scheduled for July the 10th. (9 day countdown)
Remember my goal is to hand out 50 invitations to get 10 people who will show up. :)
Keep in mind a no isn't a no it's just, I can't make it on that day.

The Beginning of my Avon Business

Hello, I wanted to write and blog my AVON experience from the beginning so I could help those who also have or are thinking of having an Avon Business.
The Goal is To help others get motivated to establish the best business they can and build a brighter future together.

Having a business is hard work no matter what type of business you have and I have had several businesses in my time. But I have truly enjoyed my Avon business! It has far outreached my expectations and I have high hopes for my future goals.

Since I am starting this at the end of my first month in I will tell you what has happened up till now and than I will give you a nightly update for the first year, from today!
That's right 365 day of AVON!
So we can share the ups and downs together.

Avon Is A Profitable Business but I joined because I really liked their perfume "Rare Pearls".
I am a mom who likes to save money and when I found that I could get my favorite perfume for a discount and save on other things I already use like soaps and makeup, I was curious. Than once I found out I could start my own AVON business for only $10 I was in.
I had no idea just how much I would learn and How AVON would help me grow as a person too.

I bought into the business or rather signed up on May 11, 2009.
Than a few days after we had a family emergency. My in-laws were in a horrible car accident and were in the hospital for a month so everything was on hold as we went to the hospital every day.
I am Happy to say on June 24th they were able to come home from the hospital and they are recovering happily together.

So I really started selling Avon sometime just after that, I can't give you an exact date because our life was a blur for a while, we just went with it and did what we had to do.

No time?
I am a mom of two wonderful teenage boys, Jax 12 (soon 13) and Trevor 14.
I am married 15 years to a wonderful man who always supports all my ventures and probably looks at it like a wild adventure.
I have learned to juggle several jobs at once,
serving at a local bbq restaurant 2-4 days a week (this is also where I was recruited)
I also have my own business, www.FunnyYardCardRental.com (time varies with orders, about 1-4 a week) I have been flocking people for their birthdays for 4 years and love it).
I work also at another restaurant Crisper's, 1-2 days a week,
and I just finished working FT/Temp from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Lets see, looking back I just wanted to learn everything like a sponge.
I went to all the AVON classes they had to offer. They are FREE offered at two different times so everyone can fit them into their schedule, and I learned so much!

But I feel one of the best things they taught me was to get out of the house!
Often after a long day at work or with the kids I was tired, I needed to make dinner and just wanted to either watch tv with my family or putter on the computer while they watched tv in the same room. I had been in this RUT for years. We seldom went out at night except to do a display. But now with schedule in hand I found myself attending classes at the AVON Training Center. It was fun, I met lots of people and I was thinking I could use all this information and relate it to my home business too, after all why not, Avon Has great marketing.

I than found myself logging in to my FREE online AVON classes, so far I have taken 7.
They have a contest I just missed out on. When you take 9 classes in a quarter you are entered in a contest for a laptop computer. I would really love to win this since my computer is about 6 years old. So I will try harder next quarter to complete my classes on time.

I also went to the training center and borrowed every DVD they had and watched them all in 2 days! Than I brought them back and thanked them for letting me borrow them.
My favorite is the one- gosh I can't think of the title, it's green with 3 girls in circles on it. It was very motivating and I want to buy a few copies so I can share them with my future down line.

Currently I have signed up to be an AVON e-rep, this has been very helpful because I always find myself on the computer. It's easy to upload orders and pay AVON for the products I have ordered.
The nice thing is finding out I have a new AVON order! That is awesome, I can't tell you how exciting it is to see an old friend you last talked to 23 years ago found you on facebook and saw you sold AVON and ordered from you! How cool is that?!

This last campaign I brought 5 books to work with me every day, and the girls went NUTZ!
I had 14 orders! Almost $250 in orders!
I made about $35. :) ok that's not alot, but what did I do? Handed out a few catalogs...right
besides my business is JUST STARTING...

My next short term goal is sales of $285 - this will pay me about $85.00.
My long term campaign sales goal is $1,600. - this will pay me about $775.
The more you sell the higher the percentage. :)
I also have plans on helping others, I would love to have a group that we can share ideas with and help grow together. An the cool thing is AVON would pay me a portion of everyone in my group sales too. Hello can you say Bonus check!

I wanted to make sure they liked the experience of getting their AVON from me.
So I got a demo product (you get the best discounts being a AVON rep)
- Perfume Demo "Far and Away" on sale for $5.99 and everyone who ordered from me at work will get a AVON lottery ticket ( I made up) in their order bag.
Than to create excitement, we'll do a drawing at work and someone will win the perfume!
I'm sure everyone will love it and will want to smell it.
Maybe I'll even get an order for it from someone. :)

I am also Planning an "Open House Party" so there will be an invitation in every order bag too!
I will also hand out invitations to everyone else who would like one.
More on the Open House party later. :)

I made up 50 Avon Open House Invitations and I plan on passing out every single one!
My goal is to have at least 10 people show up.
I would like to do a AVON Party once every 2 months.
I am hoping this will generate sales, and excitement for someone to open their own AVON business.

Since this is my own business and no one is holding me to any schedule but my own,
I just have to stay organized. This is why I decided to start a blog.
I feel it will make me accountable for my actions,
what I did that day to promote my business each day and it will help me see what I could do better tomorrow.
