Day 14.... Mailed a few Avon Catalogs

Today I mailed out a few Avon catalogs with samples, boy that was expensive about 2.50 each!
Yikes! I mailed 4 out!

I was out at Universal Studios today with my boys and I got an Avon Order!

Updated the colors of this blog today because I noticed alot of other Avon blogs were using the same background, and this is easier on the eyes.

I also changer my browser name because someone threatened that I'm not to use the Avon name in my browser. I'm not upset, it doesn't bother me. However I have noticed about 100 other websites/blogs that do just that too, and I'd never say anything...
So it's changed, and that's why....

The Beginning of my Avon Business


Hello, I wanted to write and blog my AVON experience from the beginning so I could help those who also have or are thinking of having an Avon Business.
The Goal is To help others get motivated to establish the best business they can and build a brighter future together.

Having a business is hard work no matter what type of business you have and I have had several businesses in my time. But I have truly enjoyed my Avon business! It has far outreached my expectations and I have high hopes for my future goals.

Since I am starting this at the end of my first month in I will tell you what has happened up till now and than I will give you a nightly update for the first year, from today!
That's right 365 day of AVON!
So we can share the ups and downs together.


Avon Is A Profitable Business but I joined because I really liked their perfume "Rare Pearls".
I am a mom who likes to save money and when I found that I could get my favorite perfume for a discount and save on other things I already use like soaps and makeup, I was curious. Than once I found out I could start my own AVON business for only $10 I was in.
I had no idea just how much I would learn and How AVON would help me grow as a person too.

I bought into the business or rather signed up on May 11, 2009.
Than a few days after we had a family emergency. My in-laws were in a horrible car accident and were in the hospital for a month so everything was on hold as we went to the hospital every day.
I am Happy to say on June 24th they were able to come home from the hospital and they are recovering happily together.

So I really started selling Avon sometime just after that, I can't give you an exact date because our life was a blur for a while, we just went with it and did what we had to do.

No time?
I am a mom of two wonderful teenage boys, Jax 12 (soon 13) and Trevor 14.
I am married 15 years to a wonderful man who always supports all my ventures and probably looks at it like a wild adventure.
I have learned to juggle several jobs at once,
serving at a local bbq restaurant 2-4 days a week (this is also where I was recruited)
I also have my own business, www.FunnyYardCardRental.com (time varies with orders, about 1-4 a week) I have been flocking people for their birthdays for 4 years and love it).
I work also at another restaurant Crisper's, 1-2 days a week,
and I just finished working FT/Temp from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Lets see, looking back I just wanted to learn everything like a sponge.
I went to all the AVON classes they had to offer. They are FREE offered at two different times so everyone can fit them into their schedule, and I learned so much!

But I feel one of the best things they taught me was to get out of the house!
Often after a long day at work or with the kids I was tired, I needed to make dinner and just wanted to either watch tv with my family or putter on the computer while they watched tv in the same room. I had been in this RUT for years. We seldom went out at night except to do a display. But now with schedule in hand I found myself attending classes at the AVON Training Center. It was fun, I met lots of people and I was thinking I could use all this information and relate it to my home business too, after all why not, Avon Has great marketing.

I than found myself logging in to my FREE online AVON classes, so far I have taken 7.
They have a contest I just missed out on. When you take 9 classes in a quarter you are entered in a contest for a laptop computer. I would really love to win this since my computer is about 6 years old. So I will try harder next quarter to complete my classes on time.

I also went to the training center and borrowed every DVD they had and watched them all in 2 days! Than I brought them back and thanked them for letting me borrow them.
My favorite is the one- gosh I can't think of the title, it's green with 3 girls in circles on it. It was very motivating and I want to buy a few copies so I can share them with my future down line.
I'll update this entry when I find out.

Currently I have signed up to be an AVON e-rep, this has been very helpful because I always find myself on the computer. It's easy to upload orders and pay AVON for the products I have ordered.
The nice thing is finding out I have a new AVON order! That is awesome, I can't tell you how exciting it is to see an old friend you last talked to 23 years ago found you on facebook and saw you sold AVON and ordered from you! How cool is that?!

This last campaign I brought 5 books to work with me every day, and the girls went NUTZ!
I had 14 orders! Almost $250 in orders!
I made about $35. :) ok that's not alot, but what did I do? Handed out a few catalogs...right
besides my business is JUST STARTING...

My next short term goal is sales of $285 - this will pay me about $85.00.
My long term campaign sales goal is $1,600. - this will pay me about $775.
The more you sell the higher the percentage. :)
I also have plans on helping others, I would love to have a group that we can share ideas with and help grow together. An the cool thing is AVON would pay me a portion of everyone in my group sales too. Hello can you say Bonus check!

I wanted to make sure they liked the experience of getting their AVON from me.
So I got a demo product (you get the best discounts being a AVON rep)
- Perfume Demo "Far and Away" on sale for $5.99 and everyone who ordered from me at work will get a AVON lottery ticket ( I made up) in their order bag.
Than to create excitement, we'll do a drawing at work and someone will win the perfume!
I'm sure everyone will love it and will want to smell it.
Maybe I'll even get an order for it from someone. :)

I am also Planning an "Open House Party" so there will be an invitation in every order bag too!
I will also hand out invitations to everyone else who would like one.
More on the Open House party later. :)

I made up 50 Avon Open House Invitations and I plan on passing out every single one!
My goal is to have at least 10 people show up.
I would like to do a AVON Party once every 2 months.
I am hoping this will generate sales, and excitement for someone to open their own AVON business.

Since this is my own business and no one is holding me to any schedule but my own,
I just have to stay organized. This is why I decided to start a blog.
I feel it will make me accountable for my actions,
what I did that day to promote my business each day and it will help me see what I could do better tomorrow.
